Golden Globe-winning actor Matt Bomer has been announced as the latest addition to the cast of John Butler’s latest project – ‘Papi Chulo’.
Bomer is set to star alongside Alejandro Patino (‘The Runaways’) in the Black Comedy, which will be on offer to buyers, through UK sellers Bankside, at the Berlin Film Market next week.
Bomer won a Golden Globe back in 2015 for his performance in HBO’s ‘A Normal Heart’. Other recent credits include: ‘The Last Tycoon’, ‘The Magnificent Seven’; ‘The Nice Guys’; ‘American Horror Story’; and ‘Magic Mike XXL’.
Bomer will play a lonely TV weatherman who strikes up an unusual and unlikely friendship with a middle aged Latino migrant worker, played by Alejandro Patino.
Rebecca O’Flanagan and Robert Walpole of Treasure Entertainment are producing the film, along with backing from the Irish Film Board, RTÉ, Windmill Lane and Head Gear Films. Phil Hunt & Compton Ross (Head Gear Films) will executive produce the film alongside Bankside’s Hilary Davis and Stephen Kelliher.
Director John Butler is currently nominated for three IFTA awards for his last project ‘Handsome Devil’, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was picked up by Netflix. Butler is nominated for ‘Best Director – Film’, ‘Best Original Script – Film’, and for ‘Best Feature Film’.
The Berlin Film Market runs from the 15th – 25th February, 2018.
