Wild Rose Starring Jessie Buckley Releases Trailer
24 Jan 2019 : News Desk
Entertainment One UK has released the trailer for the country music themed comedy-drama, which stars Irish actress Jessie Buckley.

Rose-Lynn Harlan (Buckley) is bursting with raw talent, charisma and cheek. Fresh out of jail and with two young kids, all she wants is to get out of Glasgow and make it as a country singer. Her mum Marion (Julie Walters) has had a bellyful of Rose-Lynn’s Nashville nonsense. Forced to take responsibility, Rose-Lynn gets a cleaning job, only to find an unlikely champion in the middle-class lady of the house. ‘Wild Rose’ is a film about mothers and daughters, dreams and reality, three chords and the truth. The film premiered at Toronto International Film Festival in September, seeing Buckley receive much acclaim for her performance.

Originally from Killarney, Co. Kerry, Buckley first came to prominence when she came second in the BBC reality television series ‘I’d Do Anything’ in 2008, a talent show series where actresses competed for a major West End musical role. She has appeared as Marya Bolkonskaya in the BBC’s dramatisation of ‘War and Peace’, before earning a major part in the BBC television drama series ‘Taboo’, opposite Tom Hardy.

Buckley also played the lead in the psychological thriller ‘Beast’ in 2017 which was nominated for Outstanding British Film in the upcoming BAFTA 2019 Awards. Buckley herself won the London Critics Circle Film Awards for Best British/Irish Actress of the year for her portrayal of Moll Huntford in the film and was recently named as one of the five EE BAFTA Rising Star Award nominees alongside Irish actor Barry Keoghan.

‘Wild Rose’ is set for release across Ireland and the U.K on April 12th.
