Two New Appointments Announced by Screen Ireland
28 Aug 2018 : Nathan Griffin
Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is pleased to announce two key appointments to the agency’s Production, Development and Distribution Unit and the Business Affairs Unit. Eimear Markey has been appointed as the Development Executive while Grace Cannon will join the agency as the Business Affairs Coordinator.

Speaking about the new appointments, Screen Ireland Chief Executive James Hickey said:

“We are delighted that Eimear Markey will serve as the agency’s Development Executive, bringing with her a wealth of script development experience. We also welcome Grace Gannon to the team, who will play a supportive role in the Business Affairs Unit, working across a wide range of projects, including the contracting of the Screen Ireland development slate.”

Eimear Markey began her career as a development assistant and researcher over a decade ago in the Irish film and TV industry.  She has since worked, first as a reader, then as a script consultant on a wide range of projects. Since May 2018, Eimear has worked as the Story Consultant at Screen Ireland, having previously held the position of development executive for Deadpan Pictures where she helped develop an extensive slate of TV shows.  Her credits include the Deadpan Pictures/RTÉ 2/BBC3 shows Nowhere Fast which she also script edited and development executive on the second series of Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope.

In 2016 she designed and co-taught “Crafting the Reader Report”, a training course for Screen Training Ireland.  Eimear holds a UCLA/FETAC diploma in script development, a higher national diploma in film from Ballyfermot College and a FETAC diploma in television production from the National Digital Skills Centre in Tralee.

Grace Gannon joins Screen Ireland from the private sector where, as a food buyer for Musgrave for 2 years, she was responsible for strategic projects, sales, and profit growth for a product portfolio. Prior to this she worked in Chartered Accountants Ireland in Membership Services, and co-founded Cloonconra Cheese, a speciality dairy production company in 2015. Grace holds a first class honours MSc. in Business Management from UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, and a B.A. in Film Studies & Modern Irish from Trinity College Dublin.
