'The School' Comedy Series Filming in Cork
21 Aug 2017 :
Principal photography has begun on ‘The School’, an RTE mockumentary by CCCahoots Productions, about the lives of the teachers and students of a fictional Co. Cork primary school.

'The School' is written and directed by Tadhg Hickey, with additional material by the cast. The show is produced by CCCahoots’ company manager Claire O’ Connell, with Ruth Carter (‘Hardy Bucks’; ‘Damo and Ivor’) serving as executive producer. CCCahoots also warmly welcome American filmmaker Jonathon Ulrich of jBear Films to the team as DOP and editor. The three part series is due to air this Winter, as part of RTE2’s Christmas schedule.

‘The School’ is fronted by the CCCahoots sketch comedy troupe of Tadhg Hickey; Dominic MacHale; and Laura O’ Mahony. These three have created and performed all of CCCahoots’ critically appraised output with RTE thus far which amounts to two web series; a successful TV pilot; and contributions to ‘Republic of Telly’:

Eddie Doyle, Head of Comedy, RTE: “CCCahoots are one of the brightest and most original comedy prospects RTE have had in recent years.”
Channel 4 Comedy Dept. : "Brilliant performances; such a great range...a cracking trio!"
The Rubberbandits:  "Pure clever man. Irish TV could do with more of that."

Supporting cast includes established stars like Frank ‘Bosco’ Twomey as you’ve never seen him before, and Phillipa Dunne of Graham Linehan’s ‘The Walshes’.

Filming is taking place in Walterstown N.S., Cobh, Co. Cork and CCCahoots wish to acknowledge the overwhelming support and goodwill they’ve received from both the school and local community. Walterstown N.S. students feature heavily in the show, and their cute - in both senses of the word - contributions are guaranteed to make your Christmas!

Writer/Director Tadhg Hickey: “I think we’re aiming for something like ‘The Office’ meets ‘School Around The Corner’. No pressure! Expect deadpan, naturalistic comedy with a heavy dollop of warmth, nostalgia, and philosophising children who must be seen to be believed!”
