Northern Irish director Mark Cousins is set to direct Swedish film ‘Stockholm My Love’, starring singer Nenah Cherry in her first acting role.
Cousins recently directed the documentary ‘I Am Belfast’, which screened at the Belfast Film Festival to positive reviews and will have its’ international premiere next month at the 50th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic.
‘Stockholm My Love’ will revolve around architect Alva Diop (Nenah Cherry) who loves architecture and the way buildings influence people's lives. Despite her love of architecture and the people around her (a 20 year old daughter and a husband), she no longer feels like a participant in her own life. And she isn't. A year ago she killed a man. It was a traffic accident and Alva is actually innocent, but she is in shock anyway. Now she wanders through a city that in many ways she loves, but whose feeling of consensus she can't relate to.
Cousins has penned the script along with Anita Oxburgh who also produced. Christopher Doyle, who was the DoP on ‘I Am Belfast’, will shoot the film – which has received backing from the Swedish Film Institute.
