Park Films and Imagine Media have entered pre-production of a new six part documentary series under the working title ‘The Field/Crá sa Chré’.
Created and produced by AnneMarie Naughton (‘The Canal’), executive produced by Sheila Friel (‘Enigma de Blaghd’), and to be directed by Sinead O Brien (‘Luke’, ‘Blood Fruit’) – ‘The Field’ tells the story of Ireland’s fascination with land, both in the north and the south.
This series is a look at the nation through the subject of boundaries. A unique look into the Irish psyche where they will be examining Irish culture and why is it they are so obsessed with land.
The series will also reveal the investigations and outcomes of an anatomy of Irish land based disputes, providing a snapshot of just how deadly this obsession can prove to be. The backbone of the series will be the real cases.
The unappeasable hunger for land is one of the defining themes of the Irish story and this documentary series will explore the phenomenon of pushing the boundaries in the most literal sense.
In partnership with TG4 and Northern Ireland Screens’ ILBF, the series will be scripted by Seán Ó Meallaigh (‘Breith agus Bás’; ‘Eoinin’) and researcher is Aisling Collins (‘Tales of Irish castles’, ‘Straight A’s’). Post Production will take place at Imagine Media, Northern Ireland.
