Principal photography has just wrapped on Irish filmmaker Danny Stack’s UK live-action kids film ‘Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg’.
Danny Stack, a native of Cobh, County Cork and a past winner of the BBC NI Tony Doyle Award, has previously written for serials such as ‘Fair City’ and ‘Eastenders’, and for children’s shows such as ‘Roy’ and ‘Thunderbirds Are Go’.
‘Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg’ is a 100% independent film, co-written/produced/directed by Stack and Tim Clague with Clague also serving as editor. The DOP of the film was Sam Morgan Moore and the cast includes Bonnie Wright (who played Ginny Weasley in the ‘Harry Potter’ series) and Hallie Gotobed (starring in the new season of ‘Game of Thrones’, currently filming in Northern Ireland).
Danny Stack said: ‘As debut feature filmmakers, we wanted to combine our experience and resources in order to get a film of this type made - a kids’ film, for kids, with kids in the lead roles!’
The film is about four misfit kids who suspect their summer camp’s mascot has been murdered so they set out to investigate.
Stack continued: ‘Filming ‘Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg’ has been an absolute blast. The kids have been great, and the crew were fully committed to bring to life the comedy adventure of the story. The fact that we’re a totally independent production made the experience all the more special. Casting Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) has been a real boost, too, and we’re now confident that the film can find its target audience at home and abroad.’
