Filming will take place in Belfast this December for short film ‘The Death of a Projectionist’, ‘Analogue People In A Digital Age’ screens in Waterford and Cork and writer/director Bertie Brosnan is set to begin filming on his latest short film ‘Sineater’.

‘Death Of A Projectionist To’ Shoot Next Month In Belfast

Filming will take place in Belfast this December for short film ‘The Death of a Projectionist’.

Director Jonathan Beer describes the piece as a ‘film about purpose, dignity and disposability seen through the eyes of an ageing cinema projectionist.’

Jonathan adds: ‘We’re blessed with an amazing cast with Ian McElhinney (‘Game of Thrones’, ‘The Fall’) taking the lead role being joined by Martin McCann (‘71’, ‘Whole Lotta Sole’) and Maggie Cronin (‘The Shore’, ‘Whole Lotta Sole’).’

Christopher Myers and Brian J Falconer produce the film for Out of Orbit, a Northern Irish production company who are currently enjoying festival success with titles ‘Boogaloo & Graham’ and ‘Land is God’. Kevin Treacy joins the team as Director of Photography.

The film has received production funding from Northern Ireland Screen and receiving support from Panavision.

‘Analogue People In A Digital Age’ screens at Waterford and Cork Festivals

‘Analogue People In A Digital Age’, the short documentary set in a Co. Galway pub on the day of the analogue digital switchover, continues its’ rich vein of festival form after screenings last weekend at the Waterford Film Festival followed by Cork and Leeds Film Festivals this week.

This follows on from several international screenings including Encounters Bristol, Cyprus, Australia, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Budapest and Capalbio, Tuscany, amongst others, over the past few months.

It also picked up its first award last month when it was given the ‘Francie’ award for Best Documentary at the Clones Film Festival and has amassed170,000 views in the digital world.

Directed by Keith Walsh and produced by Jill Beardsworth, this 13-minute film is set in Johnny Walsh’s pub in Gort on the day of the analogue/digital switchover in October 2012.

‘Analogue People in a Digital Age’ was produced as part of the Reality Bites short documentary scheme, which was funded by The Irish Film Board.

Writer/Director Bertie Brosnan set to film latest short ‘Sineater’

Writer/Director Bertie Brosnan is set to begin filming on his latest short film ‘Sineater’.

The film stars Joe Mullins, who has previously starred in the award-winning ‘Pilgrim Hill’.

Production of ‘Sineater’ takes place this weekend (15th/16th November) and is completely filmed in Kerry, with the majority of the film based in Tralee. The film will be produced by ‘Brosnan Vision Productions’ in association with ‘Blue Jack Pictures’.

‘Sineater’ is about a young man with a dark past who is forced into looking at his wrongdoings by a mysterious ‘Driver’ who claims to be a family friend.

Bertie’s last film ‘Jacob Wrestling with the Angel’ screened at the Cannes Film Festival, being selected as part of the Short Film Corner.
