Today’s Daily Bite features news that Dutch television format giants Endemol have appointed a new president; Canadian journalists are to be charged to interview Brad Pitt and Kristen Stewart at Cannes and Film4 are to up their investment into comedy features.

Tim Hincks appointed president of Endemol Group… Tim Hincks, chief executive of Endemol UK, has been appointed president of Endemol Group overseeing the Dutch parent company's operations in the US and Britain. Known worldwide as one of the leading exporters of television format shows, Endemol are the producers behind ‘Big Brother,’ ‘Deal Or No Deal’ and ‘The Million Pound Drop Live.’ Hincks has been with Endemol UK since 2008 and will remain as its chairman. He will report to the newly appointed Endemol Group chief executive, Just Spee.

Canadian journalists asked to pay for Brad Pitt or Kristen Stewart interviews… Deadline are reporting that Canadian journalists will have to pay to interview Brad Pitt or Kristen Stewart at next week’s Cannes Film Festival. They are reporting that Toronto-based Alliance Films has sent out a menu of prices to Canadian journalists for them to pay if they want to participate in interviews in France for Pitt’s ‘Killing Them Softly’ and Stewart’s ‘On The Road’ Alliance is the Canadian distributor for the two movies. The costs, all originally in Euros, are very specific. The price for a TV interview with Pitt is about €2,500. A one-on-one print interview with Stewart would be around €1,000.

Film4 to invest an extra €1.2m per year into British comedies… Film4 are to inject an extra €1.2m per year into developing British comedy features, according to Variety. The announcement was made last night at Film4’s pre-Cannes party in London. It brings the company’s film financing budget to around €20m. One of the forthcoming comedies to be financed by Film4 includes the Chris O'Dowd-starring feature, ‘Cuban Fury.’

If you watch one trailer today…. A mob movie starring Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn, Nick Nolte and Josh Brolin can’t be anything but great. Here’s the first-look at ‘Gangster Squad,’ which will be released in Ireland on November 9.
