‘The Avengers’ is the fastest movie to reach $200m in the US…. Disney and Marvel’s The Avengers (known as ‘Avengers Assemble’ in Ireland) is the fastest movie to pass the $200m (€154m) mark in the US domestically, taking in $207.4m (€160m) in just three days. So far the film has taken in $654.8m (€503m) globally in just 12 days.
BSkyB launches Sky News Arabia…. BSkyB has launched Sky News Arabia to more than 50 million homes across the Middle East and North Africa. The 24-hour Arabic-language news channel is a joint venture between Abu Dhabi Media Investment Corporation and BSkyB.
‘Once’ to go on tour next summer…. Irish director John Carney’s 2006 movie ‘Once’ is continuing to hit headlines with news that the Broadway musical version of the Dublin-based film will go on tour in the US next summer. The Broadway production opened on March 18 and last week received a total of 11 Tony nominations in almost every major category.
