Daryl McCormack cast as lead in ‘Good Luck To You, Leo Grande’ opposite Emma Thompson
26 Feb 2021 : News Desk
Daryl McCormack (Pixie, Peaky Blinders) has been cast opposite Oscar-winning actress Emma Thompson in Good Luck To You, Leo Grande.

McCormack will take on the title role of Leo Grande, a sex worker in his 20s hired by Nancy Stokes (Thompson). Nancy yearns for some adventure, human connection and good sex, which she was robbed of in her stable but stale marriage. To make things right, the ex-teacher devises a plan and hires the services of Leo Grande for a night of bliss.

From Tipperary, McCormack has enjoyed recent success and a slew of significant roles. Having appeared in Irish soap Fair City in 2015, and Vikings in 2017, he played the role of Luke Mackenzie in one episode of A Very English Scandal (2018) opposite Ben Whishaw (Skyfall, Cloud Atlas). In 2019, McCormack played Isiah Jesus in season 5 of Peaky Blinders, helmed by Irish director Anthony Byrne.

More recently, McCormack appeared in the Paramount Pictures crime-comedy Pixie, alongside Olivia Cooke, Alec Baldwin, Ben Hardy, Colm Meaney and Chris Walley. Pixie was filmed in Northern Ireland and funded by Northern Ireland Screen. McCormack will next be seen on the highly-anticipated Amazon TV series Wheel of Time.

Good Luck To You, Leo Grande is directed by Sophie Hyde, who helmed the Irish co-production Animals in 2019, with Vico Films. Filming is set to begin in March in Norwich, UK, under Covid guidelines and is produced by Debbie Gray at Genesius Pictures.

Cornerstone, who first brought the film to market at the virtual AFM, is handling international sales and distribution, and co-repping US rights with CAA Media Finance.
