CIFF Film Club: ‘Best of the Fest’ Summer Series Shorts + Q&A

The Cork International Film Festival has teamed up with The Gate Cinemas to bring you a new home cinema Festival experience, the CIFF Film Club.
As Ireland’s first and largest film festival, CIFF presents premieres of the latest Irish and international films in Cork and champions the magic of the shared cinematic experience. Click here to book tickets for the event. After 65 years, CIFF is still innovating and reimagining new ways to bring audiences the best cultural films and a Festival experience. The CIFF Film Club offers film lovers a new way to enjoy a curated programme of Festival films on our new online platform, powered by Eventive, with a final homecoming screening back in The Gate Cinema Cork City on July 30th. CIFF Film Club offers a specially selected summer series of fortnightly screenings of new Irish and international features, documentaries and classics, with exclusive interviews and Q&As with filmmakers. Best of the Fest Summer Series Shorts: To mark CIFF’s 65th anniversary this year, Senior Programmer Don O’ Mahony has delved into the archives to select and celebrate award-winning Irish short films presented at the Festival over the past decade, to curate a special selection of highlights for the CIFF Film Club summer series. Join CIFF to share some home grown highlights with Festival alumni. Stigma Director: Helen Warner | 2018 | 11-mins Producer: Marie McDonald A string of confessions unveil a tale of religious guilt, sin and redemption set against the dramatic Northern Irish coastline. Mother & Baby Director: Mia Mullarkey | 2017 | 18-mins Producer: Alice McDowell Discarded in death as they were in life, ‘Mother & Baby’ bears witness to children of the fallen women of Ireland. Wave Directors: Benjamin Cleary, T.J. O’Grady Peyton | 2017 | 14-mins Producer Rebecca Bourke A man wakes from a coma speaking a fully formed but unrecognizable language, baffling linguistic experts from around the globe. Gridlock Director: Ian Hunt-Duffy | 2016 | 20-mins Producer: Simon Doyle When a little girl goes missing from a car in a traffic jam everyone becomes a suspect. Love is a Sting Director: Vincent Gallagher | 2015 | 18-mins Producer Ian Hunt-Duffy A struggling children’s book writer gains an unexpected house guest in the form of Anabel, a 20-year-old, hyper-intelligent mosquito. This programme of short films will be followed by a Q&A with the directors. Catch up: If you miss the screening + Q&A from 7pm, don’t worry – they will be available on the platform for 24 hours.
