Sharon Horgan's New Amazon Comedy Series Recruits 'Game Night' Co-Star Billy Magnussen
23 Aug 2018 :
Amazon has given a script-to-series commitment to Sharon Horgan’s new untitled comedy series, which will star Horgan and Billy Magnussen (‘Game Night’, ‘Into the Woods’).

Magnussen recently starred alongside Horgan in John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein’s feature comedy ‘Game Night’.

The new comedy series comes from the minds of John Hamburg (‘Zoolander’, ’Meet the Parents’), Ian Helfer (‘Why Him?’) and Sharon Horgan (‘Catastrophe’, ‘Divorce’).

Directed by Hamburg, the comedy will follow the antics of a socially awkward, broke, single women (played by Horgan) who sets up a self-help company and recruits the handsome good looks of a former male gymnast (played by Magnussen) to be the face of the business.

Amazon Studios produces with Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and Sharon Horgan and Clelia Mountford’s production company, Merman.

The project originates from the Amazon deal that Horgan & her production company Merman signed with the streaming platform earlier this year. This deal also includes the continued support from longtime collaborator Kapital Entertainment who will work as a partner on all projects that materialise during the course of the deal.

Executive producers on the project are Horgan & Mountford for Merman, Kaplan for Kapital Entertainment, while Hamburg and Helfer will also exec produce.

Horgan is currently involved in several projects including Channel 4’s ‘Catastrophe’, HBO’s ‘Divorce’, RTÉ’s ‘Women on the Verge’, and Showtime’s ‘Shining Vale’.

Horgan received IFTAs for Best Female Performance and Best Writer in 2015, 2016 and 2018, whilst also picking up a BAFTA for ‘Best Writer – Comedy’ in 2016.
