Two Irish Film Board short film schemes are accepting applications until 1pm Friday August 5th.
The two schemes, entitled Focus Shorts and Real Shorts, are accepting applications from producer/director/writer teams, where the producer and director are not the same person.
The Focus Shorts scheme is for the making of live-action fiction films and is described as, “…a proving-ground for Irish creative talents aspiring to write, direct and produce films for the cinema.”
Submissions are welcome for this scheme which are no longer than 10mins in length and are eligible to receive a budget of up to €50k.
The Irish Film Board further describes the scheme as follows:
“It aims to encourage strong, original storytelling, visual flair, and production values appropriate to the big screen. It offers an opportunity for producers, directors and writers to work in a professional environment that will bring their experience up to a higher level and can be seen as a potential stepping stone for future full-length film-makers.”

Application Guidelines
The Real Shorts scheme is for the making of documentaries. It is emphasised that the scheme is designed to enable projects with, “…high cinematic production values capable of reaching an international audience through theatrical and festival exposure.”
Submissions are welcome from this scheme which are no longer than 10mins in length and are eligible to receive a budget of up to €20k.
