Film Constellation, a London-based production, sales, and finance company, has come on board Cathy Brady’s TIFF-bound debut feature film Wildfire.
The film, which will feature in the Discovery section of the festival this September, stars the late Nika McGuigan (The Secret Scripture, Traders), and Nora-Jane Noone (Brooklyn, The Magdalene Sisters, The Descent), andtells the story of a missing woman who returns home, igniting an intense bond with her sister. United they unearth their mother’s past but the truth has devastating consequences.
Wildfire is one of only 50 titles to feature at this year’s streamlined festival, which traditionally screens upwards of 300 titles. Brady’s film will make its world premiere at 9pm on September 16th at the West Island Open Air Cinema, Ontario Place.
Developed and produced with funding from Screen Ireland and Northern Ireland Screen, Wildfire is the first feature film from the Newry writer/director.
A Screen International: Star of Tomorrow and NFTS graduate, Brady is a two-time IFTA-winning director, for her short films Small Change and Morning. In 2011, Cathy directed the BIFA-nominated TV drama Rough Skin, starring Vicky McClure, for Channel 4’s Coming Up strand.
An Irish-UK co-production, Wildfire is supported by the BFI, Screen Ireland, Northern Ireland Screen and the Wellcome Trust.
