Date announced and submissions open for inaugural Catalyst International Film Festival
07 Jan 2020 : News Desk
Catalyst International Film Festival
The inaugural Catalyst International Film Festival will open in Limerick in March 2020 presenting a film programme that prioritises stories and storytellers currently under-represented on screen and behind the camera.

The Catalyst Film Festival runs from 20-21st March in Limerick.

Led by Dr. Susan Liddy and Vanessa Gildea, the festival will endeavour to create a more inclusive industry and films screened at Catalyst will promote gender equality, diversity and inclusion whether in content, key creative roles or crew.

The festival will focus exclusively on films that address under-representation on screen and behind the camera; gender equality, diversity, and inclusion are core to our programming. The festival will prioritise stories and storytellers who may struggle for visibility in the film industry and in mainstream film festivals. They believe that talent is plentiful but opportunities can be limited. Of course, Catalyst films will entertain and engage audiences, but they also aim to challenge and inspire.

There will be panel discussions, workshops, and Q&As where topical issues of the day will be enthusiastically debated with filmmakers, guest speakers, industry personnel and audience members. The festival is centred on the belief that equality is key to enriching filmmaking and audiences and it is core to this festival.

Interested applicants can submit their entries via Film Freeway, which is now accepting submissions – here.

More screenings and events to be announced.

The Catalyst Film Festival runs from 20-21st March in Limerick.
