Trailer Released for Fleadh-Bound Blizzards Mockumentary
27 Jun 2019 : Nathan Griffin
Bressie of Irish band The Blizzards
The first look trailer has been released for The Blizzard’s new satirical documentary, which follows the band and their eccentric manager Duncan Browne over the course of a year.

‘The Blizzards: Behind The Music’ was recently named among the titles for the 2019 programme at this year’s Galway Film Fleadh and will screen at the Town Hall Theatre on July 11th.

The film consists of a small production team with Dublin filmmaker Jeffrey Doyle directing, shooting and editing and Chris Garrett on lighting and sound. The story was written by Doyle and Alisa Kuzmina. The film was produced by Doyle and The Blizzards.

Speaking about the project and the Galway selection, Director Jeffrey Doyle told IFTN:

“The film came about very organically. I followed the band on the road and started filming their peers talking about them. I realised we could do a Behind the Music style documentary so myself and another writer Alisa Kuzmina put a script and story together. Premiering at The Galway Film Fleadh is a huge honour and I'm so grateful to Eibh Collins, The Blizzards, Duncan and Alisa for all their help on this project. “

The trailer for the mockumentary shows the trials and tribulations faced by the band as they prepare the release of their third album in an effort to regain relevance once again. However, they are not aided by the efforts of their incompetent ‘manager’ Duncan Browne.

“Working with The Blizzards manager Duncan Browne was one of the most eye opening yet frustrating experiences of my life, Imagine trying to coax a bull up a flight of stairs,” said Doyle. “Now imagine that bull also thinks it can manage a band.”

The film also features a host of Irish and international celebrity cameo appearances including Louis Walsh, Ryan Tubridy, Amy Huberman, John Connors, Mattress Mick, Shane McGowan, James Kavanagh, The Happy Pear, Tommy Lee, Snopp Dogg, Def Leppard, Wheatus, Ham Sandwich, Brendan O'Carroll, Kodaline, The Coronas, Wild Youth, George McMahon, Picture This, Tebi Rex, Perez Hilton, Gary Cooke, Dermot & Dave, Tony McGregor, John Kavanagh, Podge & Rodge, Laura Whitmore, Eoghan McDermot, and Stormy Daniels.
