Protagonist Pictures have acquired the world sales rights to the Irish drama, excluding the UK and Ireland where Element Pictures Distribution will release.
‘Rosie’ is centred on a young family that loses their home in Dublin during the Irish housing crisis. Former IFTA winners Sarah Greene (Penny Dreadful and Burnt) and Moe Dunford (Vikings and Patrick’s Day) star in the film, which was written by Bafta nominee Roddy Doyle (The Commitments and The Snapper).
The project was funded by Screen Ireland and the BAI and is being produced by Emma Norton, Rory Gilmartin and Juliette Bonass
Speaking with Screen Daily, Rory Gilmartin of Element Pictures said:
“The film centres on the chronic lack of housing across Ireland, which is currently one of the most pressing social issues, not just in Ireland, but in so many countries across the globe.”
Producer Emma Norton added:
“Paddy, Roddy and our fantastic cast have created a human story that echoes the real-life experiences of families all over the world. We really believe that Protagonist are the perfect partners to bring Rosie to an international audience.”

‘Rosie’ will premiere at Toronto International Film Festival next month.
