Filmbase & Screen Talent Europe: Talent Development Scheme
2017-10-11 10:50:00 :
Filmbase would like to sponsor Irish talent to take part in The Super8000 Workshop in Denmark.

Filmbase is a partner and Irish representative for Screen Talent Europe. Filmbase is always on the look out to help Irish talent reach their full potential and establish themselves further afield internationally. Every year we aim to sponsor Irish talent to take part in some of our Screen Talent Europe workshops, festivals and funding opportunities. The aim is to help filmmakers build contacts, develop partnerships that can potentially lead on to co-production’s.

Super8000 workshop is looking for two groups of 6 talented filmmakers from Europe, that will participate a workshop as part of the Super8000 festival, 27th -29th October.

The workshop will be divided in two: 1) One group focus on VR/AR storytelling, and 2) The other group will focus on classic storytelling for film. Both groups are led by two mentors with professional experience within classic storytelling and VR/AR-storytelling.

The two groups will receive the same inspirational material, which they will use as the basis of their story. Both groups will develop a story in each of their specific media forms. The purpose of this exercise is to examine how the classical film media differs from VR/AR-medias, and what are advantages and disadvantages.

The results from the workshop will be presented during the festival on Friday, and on the basis of this, there will be a discussion on the challenges and advantages with new technology and what makes the core of a good story. The Workshops will be video documented, and at the presentation there will be clips from the two groups.

Mentors: VR/AR:

1) Morten Barfod Søgaard, Head of the Danish Game Factory
“You won’t believe your own body: VR takes you places you never imagined. It is its own kind of narrative, wholly different from film or games.”

2) Michael Vogt, Game scriptwriter
Vogt knows deep plotting and suspenseful hit missions: He works as a scriptwriter at IO Interactive and has written the latest installment of the Hitman series from 2016. He has extensive knowledge on the future of complex storytelling.

Mentors: Classical storytelling:

1) Emil Nygaard Albertsen, Screenwriter, graduated from The Danish Film School in 2013.

2) Simon Oded Weil, Screewriter, graduated from The Danish Film School in 2013.
Together the two screenwriters have written the children’s series Kanonkongen Freja for Danish television.

Participants:

Super8000 is now looking for 6 participants for the workshop. Filmbase and Screen Talent Europe are looking for either scriptwriters or directors, who have experience with filmmaking, and know the building blocks of a story. They do not need experience with VR/AR-storytelling.

Filmbase will cover flights, accommodation and transport to Aarhus, Denmark. However, filmmakers are responsible for their own out of pocket expenses.
