Festival Round-Up: Irish Film Festival Boston Submission Deadline, with Dates for Dingle, Silk Road & more

The festival will run from March 23rd-26th 2017 in Somerville, MA and has been voted one of the top twenty coolest film festivals in the world by Movie Maker Magazine. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, December 15th.

Flights and accommodation will be provided to winners in each category to attend the events. The festival will also host to the 2017 BIFF Awards, which were inaugurated in 2003.

Prizes are offered in the following categories: The Breakthrough Feature Award which honours those filmmakers whose feature films represent the Best of Ireland and the Irish on Screen, the Global Vision Documentary category which awards work that challenges, highlights or explores global issues with a unique Irish gaze, Most Inspiring Short Film which awards a piece of work that recognizes an up and coming Irish Filmmaker.

Below is a range of deadlines for film festivals which have recently announced a call for entries, or those with upcoming submission deadlines, to which Irish filmmakers may submit their work. 

Dingle International Film Festival, December 9th

Running from March 23rd-26th, the annual festival in Dingle, Co. Kerry also features the Animation Dingle Awards, which marked Ireland's first ever Animation Awards ceremony in association with Animation Ireland in 2015.

Silk Road Film Festival: Last Submission Deadline, December 12th

The Silk Road Film Festival celebrates cinema presents films from regions which were once part of the historical network of the Silk Road ancient trade routes and focuses in particular on Asian, Arab, Persian, African, Mediterranean and European cinema.

IWM Short Film Festival, April 28th

Entries opened this Thursday, December 1st for the annual festival hosted by Imperial War Museums.

Films will be judged in the categories of Best Documentary and Best Creative Response, with four additional awards for IWM Special Category: States of Emergency, Best Use of IWM Archive Material, Best Student Film and the Audience Vote Award.
