The one-week festival screens popular subtitled European films and is the only one of its kind in Ireland. Victoria Smurfit (Once Upon a Time) will host the awards ceremony on Sunday, November 27th.
This year’s programme features thirty-two films from seventeen countries, many of which are Irish premieres, and will also host over thirty European actors and fifty casting directors.
Highlights of the festival this year include the premiere of ‘Graduation’ presented by Palme d’Or winner Cristian Mungiu. Directors Mijke de Jong (Layla M) and Aleksander Kott (Test, Insight) are also in attendance.
Czech comedy ‘Lost in Munich’, an Oscar-submitted comedy about a racist parrot will screen, as will Un Regard winner ‘The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki’ with lead actor Jarkko Lahti in attendance.
Another Oscar submission screening this year is Danish title ‘Land of Mine’ with lead actor Roland Møller in attendance.
There is a comprehensive collection of casting directors and European actors partaking in this year’s festival . Sharon Bialy (Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead), Julie Schubert (House of Cards), Deborah Aquila (Twilight, The Shawshank Redemption) are but a few of the fifty-seven casting directors lined up.
Additionally there are a range of workshops dealing with show reels, self-tapes, headshots and CVs.
