Ken Loach’s period drama ‘Jimmy’s Hall’ is to screen at the Los Angeles Film Festival next month.
The LA Film Festival runs June 10-18 and ‘Jimmy’s Hall’ will screen in the Buzz section of the festival, which showcases "celebrated favourites from around the world".
The Element Pictures co-production was shot on location in Leitrim and Sligo and tells the true story of Jimmy Gralton, who set up a dance hall on a rural crossroads in an Ireland on the brink of civil war. The film stars Barry Ward, Simone Kirby, Andrew Scott and Aisling Franciosi and was made with partial funding from the Irish Film Board.
The film, which was released to Irish cinemas last year, is up for two awards at this month’s IFTA Film & Drama Awards – Best Leading Actress in a Film for Simone Kirby and Best Costume Design for Eimear Ni Mhaoldomhnaigh.
