‘Coming Home’, a documentary funded by the Irish Film Board, is to be screened at the DOC NYC festival this November. ‘Coming Home’ will receive two screenings at the IFC Center in New York on November 15th and 20th. Amongst those expected to attend are director Viko Nikci, the documentary’s subject Angel Cordero and cinematographer Robert Flood.
Produced by David Collins for Samson Films, ‘Coming Home’ is a documentary about Angel Cordero who was wrongly charged with attempted murder in 1999 when he was 25 years old. Viko Nikci follows him as he is released from prison after thirteen years into a new world of smartphones and social media. Readjusting to life on the outside, Angel has two goals: confronting the man who actually committed the crime for which he was punished, and repairing his relationship with the daughter he was forced to leave behind.
‘Coming Home’ previously won the Best Irish Feature Documentary and Best Human Rights Documentary at the 2013 Galway Film Fleadh. The film was co-produced with Welcome Home Pictures.
DOC NYC is America’s largest documentary festival and has been attended by figures such as Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore, Oliver Stone, Michel Gondry, Ricki Lake and many more.
