'It Came From Connemara' at Raindance
16 Sep 2014 : Sean Brosnan
Award Winning Irish Documentary ‘It Came From Connemara!!’ has been selected to screen at the prestigious Raindance Film Festival in London later this month.

The feature, released by Dearg Films and funded by TG4 and BAI, chronicles the years spent by legendary director Roger Corman at his production company in Connemara, Galway. It premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh earlier this year before garnering a Spirit of the Festival Award at this month’s Sky Road TV and Film Festival in Clifden.

Corman, known primarily for making low budget, exploitation movies from the 1950’s onwards, set up Concorde Anois, the Irish arm of his production company in the 1990’s employing hundreds of people and amassing almost 20 films during its brief time in operation. ‘It Came from Connemara!!’ delves into the controversies Corman started during this time and features interviews with some of the Irish cast and crew of his movies as well as interviews with James Brolin, Don ‘The Dragon’ Wilson, Corbin Bernsen and Corman himself.

The Raindance Film Festival is the largest independent film festival in Europe and has premiered such cult classics as 'Memento', 'Old Boy' and 'The Blair Witch Project' since its inaugural event in 1992.

‘We are absolutely thrilled to be selected as part of this prestigious festival and to be the only Irish feature documentary selected is a great honour’, said Director/ Producer Brian Reddin. ‘It’s particularly cool because our documentary is in both Irish and English, which proves that a good story can travel in any language’.

'It Came From Connemara!!' is also screening at the IFI Stranger Than Fiction Festival on Saturday, September 27th. The documentary was produced and written by Brian Reddin. The DOP was Gerry MacArthur and it was edited by Ultan Murphy in Windmill Lane.
