The Guth Gafa International Documentary Film Festival has announced the Guth Gafa Film Week, which will take place in two locations this autumn.
The week-long festival will get underway on Saturday, October 25th and Sunday October 26th in Malin, Co Donegal, before moving to the 18th century
Headfort House, Kells in Co Meath.
In between, the festival will host a number of special events including an international film industry conference, details of which will be announced very soon.
Speaking about the locations, Festival Director David Rane said “Ultimately this is about creating opportunities for as wide an audience as possible to see some of the best documentary films in the world.
“We have wonderful films to show that deal with many of the most important issues of the day and our aim is to get them out to as many people as we can while retaining the intimacy of the festival,” he said.
This year’s programme, which is currently being finalised by festival directors, David Rane and Neasa Ní Chiannáin, will feature award-winning international documentaries. There will be a special focus on films that deal with themes of human rights and social issues and will provide a forum for lively discussion with the filmmakers in attendance at both venues.
The programme will also include a number of recently-made feature- length Irish documentaries.
