This year’s Galway Film Fair takes place this week from July 10th-12th. The fair includes industry events and a marketplace, with the latter providing a unique opportunity for attendees to meet leading financiers from all over the world, to discover new talent and to develop long term beneficial partnerships.
This year’s fair is bigger and better than ever. According to Debbie McVey, Manager of the Film Fair: “The Marketplace at the Galway Film Fair have scheduled over 700 one on one meetings and networking meetings to take place between producers and international sales agents, distributors, broadcasters and film funds.”
She also stated that “this year’s Marketplace received an unprecedented number of applications and representatives including from the following countries: Ireland, UK, Finland, Croatia, Germany, Greece, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, France, Russia, Bulgaria, Canada, USA, Italy, Denmark, Austria and Poland.”
Over 60 international companies will be in attendance, including Altitude Film Sales, BBC, Film4, eOne, Endgame Entertainment Company, Magnolia Pictures, Tribeca Enterprises, Studiocanal, Visit Films, Killer Films and Wreckin Hill Entertainment. Festival programmers in attendance include: Sundance Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, Palm Springs Film Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, Les Arc Film Festival and Tbilisi Film Festival.
The Galway Film Fair will also host a number of industry events that include Masterclasses with producer Roger Frappier and screenwriter John Olson, Actors and Casting Masterclasses with Fionnula Flanagan and Ros Hubbard respectively, the Real Deal film conference, a Pitching Competition, a Camera Lighting Workshop, an Animation workshop and a free talk on the film ‘An Bronntanas’, among many other events.
