Michael Dawson and Lucas Ochoa join Element Pictures.
Lucas Ochoa and Michael Dawson have joined the Element Pictures team and will join the company in early October to work as executive producers in television drama.

The pair will be based out of its London office; both developing new projects as well as existing slates, while reporting to Element co-founder Ed Guiney.

Ochoa (American Honey, XY Chelsea) leaves his post as long time executive of Pulse Films where he most recently featured as chief creative officer of the company’s scripted division, overseeing and executive producing Gangs of London for Sky Atlantic and AMC. Ochoa has been at Pulse Films since 2008, joining three years after it was established by co-founders and creative partners Thomas Benski and Marisa Clifford.

“I am delighted to be joining Element at such an exciting time in the company’s journey,” said Ochoa. “I’ve long admired their incredible track record in film and television and am very much looking forward to being part of the company’s future.”

Dawson, who joins from Silverprint and credits include ITV dramas Dark Heart and Vera, will head of Element’s Belfast office with particular attention going towards growing the companies projects and profile in Northern Ireland.

“Joining Ed and Andrew at Element is an undeniable opportunity to be part of an innovative and world class creative team as they expand their TV output,” said Dawson. “I am also very excited to be growing their footprint in Northern Ireland. I cannot wait to get started.”

Element Pictures is run by Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe. With offices in Dublin, London and Belfast, Element’s activities encompass production, distribution, and exhibition. Recent productions include Yorgos Lanthimos’ Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA-winning The Favourite, Lenny Abrahamson's Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA winning Room, and the internationally acclaimed television drama Normal People for Hulu and the BBC.

“Both Lucas and Michael are terrific producers with incredible taste and experience and we feel very lucky indeed to be welcoming them to join the amazing team at Element,” said Element’s co-founder Ed Guiney. “We look forward to building on our track record, working with the best film-makers, writers and creators as we continue to grow our capacity in television drama.”
