Reporting to the Head of Scheduling, RTÉ, the Deputy Head of Scheduling will have responsibility for both the management and strategic planning of the RTÉ daytime schedule for both RTÉ One and RTÉ2, as directed by both the Head of Scheduling and the Director of Audiences, Channels & Marketing, ensuring RTÉ fulfills its public service obligations while remaining commercially competitive.
The main responsibilities of the post include:
- Construct a competitive daytime schedule, when required, for both RTÉ One and RTÉ 2, as directed by the Head of Scheduling and Director of Audiences, Channels & Marketing.
- Maintain a competitive share performance on RTÉ One and RTÉ 2 daytime schedule.
- Devise the scheduling strategy for RTÉ One and RTÉ 2 daytime in collaboration with the Head of Scheduling.
- Editorial responsibility for the daytime schedule RTÉ One & RTÉ 2, including all live daytime issues.
- Take the weekly daytime schedule to press.
- Liaise with Group Genre Heads on all delivery and transmission times.
- Maintain detailed familiarity with the RTÉ acquired stock list and assess the suitability of content for the schedule.
- Maintain a close working relationship with Communications, Marketing, On-air Promotions, Media Sales, News, and Continuity teams.
- First and main point of contact for Transmission on all scheduling issues relating to RTÉ One and RTÉ 2
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the current Irish television market, including the schedules of all our major competitors.
The successful candidate will have strong management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrable decision- making abilities.
