They won the first ever IFTA Award for Best VFX on Saturday night for their work on the Northern Irish shot series ‘The Frankenstein Chronicles’. Ed Bruce, Nicholas Murphy and Alan Collins picked up the award with the trio also nominated for the drama series ‘Ripper Street’.
The Dublin based VFX house have now just announced that they are currently working on Roland Emmerich’s ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ for FOX Studios.
The original ‘Independence Day’ – starring Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum - was released in 1996 and was a huge hit, making over $817m at the box office. The sequel has a purported production budget of $200m with Jeff Goldblum reprising his role along with new-comers Liam Hemsworth and Maika Monroe.
“The 1996 ‘Independence Day’ was such a spectacular disaster movie with ground breaking visual effects which picked up the Oscar that year. We’re delighted to be part of Roland’s epic new feature,” said Ed Bruce, SSVFX’s Visual Effects Supervisor. “It’s going to be awesome!”.
‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ will hit cinemas on June 24th.
