Independent Irish film ‘Songs for Amy’ will be released digitally by Sonny and Skye Productions, in partnership with LA distributor Traverse Media, across a number of VOD platforms including iTunes, Googleplay and Vudu on October 1st, with Amazon to be added soon after.
‘Songs for Amy’ was an official selection of several prestigious festivals, including the Newport Beach Festival in California, where it was ranked fourth out of 400 films and won The Jury Award for ‘Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking.’ The film was also selected to screen at the Galway Film Fleadh, 21st Annual Whitaker Saint Louis International Film Festival and the Glasgow Film Festival, where it was the first film to sell out both screenings. The film screened at the Hollywood Film Festival to rave reviews a few months ago and was screened to a sold out crowd at the Boston Irish Film Festival in March.
‘Songs for Amy’ had a theatrical release in Ireland in May at IMC Cinemas, receiving an extended run by a week.
The award-winning feature, written and produced by Fiona Graham and directed by BAFTA and Emmy nominated Konrad Begg, is set in the west of Ireland and New York and follows musician Sean O’Malley (Sean Maguire) as he tries to redeem himself with bride-to-be, Amy (Lorna Anderson), after a debauched stag party.
The film also stars Barry Ward (‘Jimmy’s Hall’), Ross Mac Mahon (‘Hatch’) and Ford Kiernan (‘Gangs of New York’), with original music coming from Irish singer/songwriter Ultan Conlon, Jim McKee and Alabama 3. The soundtrack is to be released in conjunction with the film.
