Sony Announce New Range at IBC
14 Sep 2011 :
sony f65
Sony Professional announce range of new products and developments to creative professionals at the IBC 2011 show in Amsterdam.

New cameras in the pipeline include Sony’s next-generation CineAlta motion picture camera F65. First displayed at NAB 2011, the F65 has an 8K image sensor, which delivers pristine HD, 2K and true 4K resolution today and has a total of 20 megapixels. The F65 will be available to buy at the end of 2011.

Other announcements from Sony at the conference include a commitment to develop a complete 4K workflow for the production market. Sony will now provide Software Development Kits to third part manufacturers to integrate F65 RAW workflows into their line-up of production and post-production tools. New solutions include the SR-PC4 data transfer unit and a new group of European partners that will support Sony F65 customers across Europe.

Sony also announced the HDC-2500 camera, which is the first live production camera in the world equipped with a carbon fibre chassis, making it incredibly strong. The HDC-2500 is equipped with a 3G 1080/50p fibre transmission system as standard.

The XDCAM range has also been enhanced with the launch of XDCAM XMPilot. The XMPilot is an advanced metadata management solution designed to improve and speed up XDCAM production workflow. The XMPilot has already been successfully trialled by UK production houses including TalkBack Thames and Blenheim Films.

Other Sony announcements made at IBC include the expansion of SxS PRO memory card range with faster writing speeds, updated Media Backbone Conductor (Version 1.2), Data Augmented Video for sports production, strengthened ED OLED monitors and the introduction of the PMW-TD300, a mid-to-entry level 3D camcorder that uses the XDCAM EX codec, which will be available in Europe from November.

The IBC is an annual conference for professionals working in the creation, management and delivery of entertainment and news content worldwide. This year’s conference took place in Amsterdam from September 8-13th 2011.
