Alabama 3 Sing 'Seven Songs for Amy', Filming Begins 22 August
10 Aug 2011 :
Alabama 3
Sonny and Skye productions have confirmed that cameras will roll on their upcoming feature comedy ‘Seven Songs for Amy’ on August 22nd in Galway. Rock band Alabama 3 have also been confirmed to feature in the film. Alabama 3 are best know for providing the theme tune (‘Woke up this morning’) to the New Jersey based mobster series ‘The Sopranos’.

Cameras will roll on the feature in Galway locations such as Kinerva, Galway City and Lough Cutra Castle, before production moves to New York in September. Directed by BAFTA nominated Konrad Begg (Top Gear), the film stars Sean Maguire (Meet the Spartans, Eastenders), Lorna Anderson (River City) and Kevin J. Ryan (Laredo, Tripping Tommy). The feature is set in contemporary rural Ireland and follows singer and musician Sean O’Malley as he tries to win back the love of his life. But he has competition for the leading lady, who is being wooed by a successful global popstar.

Writer and Producer Fiona Graham commented on the British band’s appearance in the feature saying ”They were exactly what we were looking for. Alabama 3 are fantastic live performers who live and breathe the rock’n’roll lifestyle. They play the role of hell raiser musicians which won’t be much of a departure from who they really are. They are the real deal!”

The feature is produced by Fiona Graham, Ford Kiernan, Angela Murray (The End of the Sentence, The Contract) and executive producers John McDonnell of Fantastic Films (Wake Wood) and Mairi McLellan of Sonny and Skye Production.
