The rights to World War II thriller starring Cillian Murphy and Jamie Dornan will predominantly be distributed by BVI.

Sean Ellis’ feature will open through BVI in Latin America, Australia and New Zealand, Benelux and Eastern Europe. In addition it will release in the Middle East, Scandinavia including Iceland, South Africa and Turkey.

‘Anthropoid’ is distributed in Ireland by Icon Film Distribution and will hit Irish cinema screens on September 9th 2016.

The project is based on a real-life 1941 mission Operation Anthropoid, in which Czech agents are assigned to assassinate Reinhard Heydrich, a renowned figure in the Nazi hierarchy. The senior commander was known for both the Final Solution and the Nazi presence in Czechoslovakia.

The film enjoyed its world premiere at the 51st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. ‘Anthropoid’ is produced by LD Entertainment and was shot in various locations in Prague, including the Barrandov Studios.
