‘Older Than Ireland’
Irish documentary ‘Older Than Ireland’ has just had the biggest home entertainment opening for any Irish film in 2015, landing a top five spot in the Irish DVD charts.

Speaking of the result, Karen O’Malley, Head of Home Entertainment for Element Pictures Distribution said: “It’s fantastic to see an independent Irish film sit alongside Hollywood blockbusters in the charts. We’re delighted with the strong support from our retailers and Irish customers, who are helping to make ‘Older Than Ireland’ essential DVD viewing this Christmas”.

The film was produced by Garry Walsh for Snackbox Films, funded by the Irish Film Board and is distributed by Element Pictures Distribution. Receiving very positive reviews and the Best Documentary Award winner at the Galway Film Fleadh, ‘Older Than Ireland’ has played in over 35 cinemas and venues since its cinema debut, and after taking over €155k at the Irish box office it continues to play strong into week eight of release.

‘Older Than Ireland’ features thirty men and women aged 100 years and over. The film explores each centenarian’s journey, from their birth at the dawn of Irish independence to their life as a centenarian in modern day Ireland.

‘Older Than Ireland’ is available in HMV, Xtra-vision, Tesco, Supervalu, Golden Discs, Tower Records, Eason and Heatons, or order a copy online from ElementPictures.ie and Amazon. On Demand viewing can be found on iTunes and Volta.ie. Visit www.olderthanireland.ie for more information.
