Irish film ‘You’re Ugly Too’ has been chosen by European Film Promotion (EFP) to screen for film buyers and industry professionals in New York in a bid to secure North American distribution.

The EFP describes the screenings, which will take place on June 29th, as an opportunity to “showcase films from different European countries with a commercial potential.”

The film has also recently won the Director’s Finders Series and will screen at the Directors Guild of America Theatre in LA on 21st August 2015 giving the feature another opportunity to land US distribution deals.

‘You’re Ugly Too’ is the feature debut of writer/director Mark Noonan and made its debut at the Berlinale International Film Festival in February. The film stars Aidan Gillen as Will, who is released from prison on compassionate leave to care for his niece Stacey after the death of her mother. As they both head into the sleepy Irish midlands and attempt to be a family, they suffer a series of setbacks.

Reviews for ‘You’re Ugly Too’ following its Berlinale debut were strong: The Hollywood Reporter described it as a “well observed debut for Mark Noonan” as well as being a “gentle reflection on the importance of trust and truth in relationships,” while Cineuropa lauded Noonan’s direction and singled out Kinsella’s performance for praise.

In addition to the New York screening, ‘You’re Ugly Too’ will also screen at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in addition to the Galway Film Fleadh in the coming weeks, ahead of its Irish theatrical release on July 24th.

‘You’re Ugly Too’ was produced by John Keville and Conor Barry for Savage Productions and was written and directed by Mark Noonan. The film was funded by the Irish Film Board. Crew members include composer David Geraghty, cinematographer Tom Comerford, editor Colin Campbell and production designer Neill Treacy.
