‘Saving Paul’, the webseries created & written by Liam Clarke (‘2 Tonne Hands’), has won Best Pitch at the 4th Marseille Webfest sponsored by Warner Bros Digital and TeleFrance Network.
Beating stiff competition from seven other pitches, ‘Saving Paul’ will now receive advice from professional screenwriters during a trip to Los Angeles as part of the winning pitch in March 2015.
Produced by Marie Caffrey of RTE Storyland award winning webseries ‘Cuckoo’ and directed by John Brown (‘Mum Says’) , ‘Saving Paul’ tells the story of Paul, who in an effort to restart his life after losing it all, moves back in with his parents in the small town he grew up in but always hated.
Producer Marie Caffrey said: The jury picked Saving Paul due to its’ universal theme and they love comedy . They really loved it and can see lots of potential. The writer’s lab in Los Angeles under WB digital is a huge boost! It's a great coup for me as last year ‘Cuckoo’ premiered at Marseille before going on to win at festivals worldwide so it's great to be back with a new script with lots of potential. Good to promote Irish web series talent abroad on a worldwide scale.
Marseille Webfest is the international festival of webseries offering 2 days of screenings of the best 25 webseries from around the world with many workshop and networking opportunities. The President and creator, Jean-Michel Albert, has initiated a collaboration between this year’s festival and the ’French Tech Weeks’ programme.
