Daily Bite: Sony Reports Record Annual Loss
10 May 2012 : By Steve Cummins
Sony's CEO Kazuo Hirai
In today’s Daily Bite, Sony reports record losses as British TV presenter Melvyn Bragg hits out over Britain’s proposed TV tax breaks.

Sony Reports Record Annual Loss… Tech-giant Sony has reported a record loss in revenue of $3,2bn recorded for January-March. The loss proves to be the company’s fifth consecutive quarter in the red, with a record loss of $5.7bn in the year 2011. Annual sales decreased by 9.6 per cent to $81bn. Sony say disasters such as last year’s earthquake in Japan and the flooding in Thailand in 2011 contributed to the decrease in sales.

Bragg “angry” over limited TV tax breaks… BBC presenter Melvyn Bragg has hit out at the British Government plans to limit tax breaks to high-end cinematic TV dramas, leaving smaller and less mainstream programmes with smaller budgets, according to Broadcast. Bragg said he agreed with Hollywood actor Robert Redford’s comments which also criticized the British Government for overlooking alternative films in its tax break scheme.

If you look at one trailer today… Ahead of it’s release tomorrow, ‘Dark Shadows’ director Tim Burton and actor Johnny Depp look at the history of vampires in this ‘Dark Shadows’ featurette.
