The Irish company is now seeking investment of €3 million to further develop the ground-breaking creative product.

A dynamic Irish company, Algorithm, has been commissioned to create and develop London’s first immersive Christmas Experience at Outernet London, working alongside its creative team.

The experience is the first of its kind in the world and has just opened to the public at Outernet London, the new immersive media and culture district at the heart of which is The Now, one of the most advanced immersive buildings in the world.

To create its fully immersive Christmas Experience for the visitor, Algorithm has deployed its brand new, patent pending technology, called ‘Orbit’, to create stunning visual content that moves freely across wraparound screens on all the surfaces of an auditorium to fully surround and immerse the visitor in a Christmas-themed experience.

Algorithm is currently embarking on an aggressive investment round of funding to continue the development of its Orbit product and bring it to the global market.

Commenting on the launch, Algorithm’s founder and Chief Executive Nick Linders, said: “In terms of the next steps of development, we are currently looking at establishing bases in the UAE, the West Coast of the US, and in Europe. Our product, Orbit, has huge potential. The demand for immersive experiences is growing rapidly but the content is difficult and time-consuming to produce. Orbit will help creators develop content faster and help meet the growing demand from audiences. Very shortly, we are going to start seeing blockbuster films produced as immersive experiences, Orbit is the product we need to start a revolution in visual storytelling."

Algorithm is an immersive production studio based in Dublin. Since 2015, the company has designed and fabricated award-winning immersive experiences for international art festivals, music concerts, animations, and films. Their mission is to close the gap between the real world and virtual realities.

"mmersive experiences are the future, and I don’t believe it will be long before people go to enjoy immersive experiences as often as they would to the cinema. The hardware and technology, such as the wraparound screens, are now available but the key will be in creating the content for people to see, which is where our product Orbit comes in. We have spent the past number of months developing and creating the future of immersive technology with stunning visual ‘deep-screen’ effect. Alongside the team at Outernet, our creative team have done an amazing job in developing a series of Christmas characters based on our commission."

Orbit was developed in collaboration with two funds from Animation Ireland and Screen Ireland. The funds exist to promote Ireland’s world class creative sector internationally. Algorithm was granted funding from both the Animation Concept & Creative Innovation Development Fund and Animation Innovation and Immersive Development Fund. The Irish animation sector has continued to grow rapidly over the past decade and Orbit are clear indications of the evolution of the sector into immersive technologies.

Nick added: “Some of the world’s top creators have asked for help in producing new content, the likes of which the world has never seen before. Orbit will help creators produce fully immersive content, such as films, TV shows, music videos or artistic experiences faster, cheaper and better. It will help filmmakers and storytellers narrow the gap between the virtual world and the real world.”

The company is partnering with Outernet again in 2023 to launch Let’s Dance, which will tour the globe. Algorithm will also premier Landfall next year, an original feature that explores the most terrifying and devastating storm to ever hit the Atlantic coast of Ireland. Set in 1839, audiences will have the chance to step into the eye of the storm as they experience what was called “Night of the Big Wind”.
