The Edinburgh TV Awards are now accepting entries ahead of the upcoming Edinburgh TV Festival, which takes place – August 22nd-24th.
Returning for the 17th year, the highly-coveted awards form one of the highlights of the TV Festival calendar, bringing out the TV industry’s best known faces, as well as showcasing the outstanding talent, and incredible breadth of genres and creativity that broadcasters and production companies produce year after year.
This year the number of categories open for submissions has expanded allowing the TV festival the opportunity to recognise more genres and applaud the high-standard of originality. The categories open for submission can be found below.
The deadline for first round entries for all of these categories is: Friday 11th May, 2018.
Speaking about the new categories, Festival Director, Lisa Campbell said:
“This year we have opened up the award categories to recognise individual genres and celebrate the incredible scale of content and talent we have here in the UK and internationally. The awards will be bigger and better, a real explosion of the senses, and a night not to be missed!”
Newly appointed Executive Chair, Graham Stuart added:
“The Awards have always been a key part of the Television Festival and this year we are taking them to a whole new level. We’ll present the industry’s most coveted prizes in a ceremony enhanced by cutting-edge comedy direct from the Edinburgh Fringe. You, your shows and your channels have got to be there. Send your entries now.”
Last year, BBC One picked up the coveted ‘Channel of the Year’ award, while the ‘Production Company of the Year’ went to Left Bank Pictures.
The ‘TV Moment of the Year’ category, voted for exclusively via the Festival app saw AJ’s priceless reaction to new football boots in Channel 5's ‘Rich House, Poor House’ claim victory in last year’s awards. This year’s ‘TV Moment of the Year’ category will open from June and remain open until Thursday, 23rd August, the day of the Edinburgh TV Awards ceremony.
