New Animation Community Website announced by Brown Bag Films
05 Feb 2014 : Deirdre Molumby
Brown Bag Films has launched a community-focused website, Brown Bag LABS, which gives unprecedented access to the animation studio. Features of LABS include behind-the-scenes insights, in-depth tutorials, reviews, industry analysis and the chance to watch shows and projects that are still in development.

As part of Brown Bag Films’ Digital Division, LABS is aimed at fans, students and industry members of animation, and will work in tandem with the company’s aim to produce original content whilst sharing new projects with an online community. The website will also offer tips, analyses and more from the directors, producers, writers, animators and technical teams.

The studio is well- known for producing hit animated shows such as Annie Award-nominated Doc McStuffins (Disney Junior), BAFTA-nominated Peter Rabbit (Nickelodeon), Emmy-nominated Octonauts (CBeebies) and Henry Hugglemonster (Disney Junior). Brown Bag Films also has two Oscar® nominations for ‘Give Up Yer Aul Sins’ and ‘Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty’, with both winning the award for Best Animation at the 2003 and 2009 IFTAs respectively. Other animated series that the company has produced include ‘Olivia’ and ‘Noddy Toyland’.

Cathal Gaffney, CEO of Brown Bag Films stated: “LABS is the first in a series of announcements that will see Brown Bag Films continue to innovate and engage with our audience. This is a chance for professionals, students and especially fans to see first-hand the ‘secret-sauce’ that we bring to our projects. ”

Founded in 1994 and celebrating their 20th birthday this year, Brown Bag Films employs over 150 full time staff from its Dublin and LA offices. Run by founders-managers Cathal Gaffney and Darragh O’Connell, Brown Bag’s Smithfield HQ is a studio of state-of-the-art technology with full animation, picture and audio post-production facilities in house.
