Tyrell Supplies Piranha Bar & Platformireland.ie
20 Oct 2011 :
Chamber Orchestra
Tyrell CCT have provided platformireland.ie, an Irish arts and culture channel, with ViewCast’s Niagara 7500 HD streaming solution to broadcast The Irish Chamber Orchestra Concert, live to the internet in High Definition.

The Concert will take place on Thursday October 20th at 19.45 and will be streamed live from the University Concert Hall in Limerick. The performance is now set to reach a global audience of more than 35 countries who can watch it using any number of web interfaces including androids, iphones and ipads.

ViewCast have been at the forefront of streaming technologies for many years and their Niagara series are used by top TV channels to deliver pristine quality images to the web. The Niagara 7500 can deliver multiple streams from a single source in Windows Media or Flash up to 1080p resolutions. Tyrell CCT has provided the ViewCast streaming appliances, onsite set up and also consulted the technical requirement and related aspects of the events.

Check out the live event from 19.30 on Thursday October 20th at http://platformireland.ie/live.

Tyrell CCT have also recently provided Dublin facility Piranha Bar with a new storage infrastructure consisting of Object Matrix’s secure Matrix Store and Avid’s leading shared storage solution, ISIS 5000. Piranha Bar can now manage the increasing volume of tapeless media and ensure fast access to data and facilitate collaboration throughout the facility.

Object Matrix’s storage solution acts as a repository for a multitude of media assets and stores all files including Quicktimes, Avid project overruns, RED raw files and digital archive for clients. This node based clustered storage array will initially provide Piranha Bar with 36 TB of nearline storage and combined with the unique object-based architecture of Matrix Store, it provides an incredibly secure environment to build Piranha Bar’s digital archive. Piranha Bar also upgraded their existing Avid Unity system to Avid’s Ethernet based ISIS 5000.

Executive Producer at Piranha Bar, Dave Burke commented “We needed a secure, scalable and self-managing solution that could handle large volumes of client media, and allow simple and immediate retrieval from any location in the facility. Tyrell CCT introduced us to The Matrix Store and amazingly it ticked all of the boxes while remaining the most cost-effective solution that is out there. We now have more streamlined processes, reduced overheads and our team are able to fully focus on their creative endeavours.”

Piranha Bar is one of Ireland’s leading post production facilities and have completed work on projects including Irish ‘Masterchef’, ‘The Apprentice’ and ‘The Genealogy Roadshow’.
