RTE is delighted to announce that it received a total of nine awards at the prestigious ESB National Media Awards this week. The winners were presented with their awards at a luncheon attended by Mary O'Rourke, TD, Minister for Public Enterprise and Tadhg O'Donoghue, Chairman, ESB.
Clare Duignan, Head of Production, Television, said of the awards that:
"RTE is delighted with the endorsement of our journalists and programme makers at today's National Media Awards. At a time when the Irish media, and RTÉ in particular, are facing such enormous funding challenges, RTE's awards illustrate the value and importance of publicly-funded television and radio as a means of delivering quality journalism."
The ESB National Media Awards, which is now in its seventh year, honours journalists for outstanding contributions in print, radio and television.
The RTE winners in the Radio category were as follows:

Joe Duffy for Campaigning and Social Issues
Des Cahill and Adrian Eames for Sport
The winners in the Television category were:
Angela Daly and Mike Milotte for News and Current Affairs
Colm Murray for Sport
Tony Connelly for Campaigning and Social Issues
Niamh O'Connor and Fiona Mc Carthy for Features and
Documentaries and TV Journalists of the Year Mark Little and Eddie Doyle.
