The Irish series which has aired since 1989 and is set in fictional Carrigstown will air on the small screen in Scotland, following the acquisition of four hundred episodes by the new channel.
‘Fair City’ is set to be a focal drama when the channel launches next week and will be introduced to audiences with a thirty minute documentary. It joins other Scottish content such as flagship news programme, ‘STV News Tonight’.
The channel will reach around 85% of viewers in STV’s transmission area and will also be available online via the STV Player.
Elizabeth Partyka, STV Deputy Director of Channels:
"STV2 will feature a great mix of entertainment, news, drama and local events, and ‘Fair City’ will be a key part of this distinct and diverse schedule."
Bobby Hain, Director of Channels, STV:
“STV2 is the first commercial TV channel with a distinct schedule for Scotland and we’re excited to confirm the channel will launch on Monday 24th April.”
