This iconic and landmark series brings us on a journey around Africa to see its most amazing locations and natural wonders. It is a celebration of Africa’s most spectacular locations, showcasing the full African experience. We journey from the cradle of human civilisation to the most awe-inspiring natural wonders of the world. Madagascar is where the series begins.
It is the world’s fourth largest island and is separated from Africa by hundreds of kilometres of sea and 165 million years of evolution – long enough for Madagascar’s plants and animals to evolve into some of the weirdest forms on the planet. Nowhere else can you see over 70 varieties of lemur, including one that sounds like a police siren, the world’s biggest and smallest chameleons, and the last stomping ground of the elephant bird, the largest bird that ever lived. And the plant life is even stranger: Forests of twisted, spiny ‘octopus’ trees, bottle-shaped baobabs, and the carnivorous pitcher plant.
The series was dubbed by Abú Media for TG4 and the narration is by Gearóid Ó Dubhghaill. The series is produced by Off the Fence productions.
The first episode of the new series transmits tomorrow night (Saturday 19th July) at 8.05pm.
