TV3 announces new Documentary Unit and New Primetime Evening Show

A new Primetime evening show will air on TV3 in January 2015, adding over 127 hours of Irish home produced content to the schedule. A major new production team will be assembled for the new weeknight show comprising of a number of TV3 reporters and anchored by a new name, still to be revealed. A new Public Affairs Documentary Unit will replace ‘Midweek’. 3e’s news programme ‘fyi’ is to be replaced with 60 second news bulletins throughout the day.

TV3 Group today announces a number of new programming arrangements across both TV3 and its sister channel 3e. TV3’s ‘Midweek’ will be replaced to make way for a new Public Affairs Documentary Unit which will produce quality current affairs and topical programming.

A new Primetime early evening show will air weeknights from January and add over 127 hours of Irish home produced content to the stations 2015 schedule. The new nightly show represents a major commitment by TV3 to cover people and items of interest happening all over Ireland.

A new anchor host has yet to be announced but this unique show will comprise of some of TV3’s finest reporters, all of whom will report on stories and exciting events from around the country. The show will also welcome special guests each night to add an extra dimension to proceedings.

The ‘Midweek’ team will be subsumed into both the new News and Public Affairs Documentary Unit and TV3’s new early evening programme.

Finally, there’s to be one further change to the TV3 Group programming schedule. ‘fyi’, the 30-minute daily news programme on TV3’s sister channel 3e is to be replaced with 60 second news bulletins throughout the day and will now be called ‘The Thread’, tying in to 3e’s news presence online at www.3etv.ie.

The announcements come in advance of the stations autumn launch later this year, at which TV3 will have a number of new announcements to make.
