Irish co-production ‘Thirteen Steps Down’ airs on ITV1 tonight
13 Aug 2012 : By Eva Hall
Thirteen Steps Down
Irish co-production ‘Thirteen Steps Down’ will air on ITV1 tonight at 8pm after undergoing post production at Dublin's Windmill Lane.

The two-part Ruth Rendell crime thriller was shot in Dublin last April over five weeks, with Marek Losey (DCI Banks) directing and Neil Zeiger (Collision) producing.

Throughout the shoot Windmill Lane provided a digital lab rushes service, working closely with director of photography Seamus Deasy (Neverland, Perrier’s Bounty). Everything was shot on the Arri Alexa camera with LUT's supplied by Dave Hughes in Windmill.

Editor Colin Sumsion (DCI Banks) worked in Windmill on the assembly, and then completed the edit in the UK post house Big Buoy. Upon picture lock, Seamus Deasy and Losey came into Windmill to work with Dave Hughes (Titanic Blood and Steel, Albert Nobbs) to grade the piece, while Dean Jones (Vexed, Love/Hate) worked on the sound mix alongside sound supervisor Paul Davies (Lockout). All VFX was completed by Windmill Lane VFX. Once the mix and grade were finished, the finishing was carried out by Robbie O’Farrell (Titanic Blood and Steel, Vexed).

Based on a Ruth Rendell murder mystery, ‘Thirteen Steps Down’ sees the fantasies of Michael ‘Mix’ Cellini turn him into a man capable of murder. Adrian Hodges (My Week with Marilyn) adapted the novel for two 60-minute episodes. It stars Geraldine James (Sherlock Holmes), Luke Treadaway (Clash of the Titans,) and Gemma Jones (Spooks).

Filming wrapped earlier this year, at locations including The Rise in Mount Merrion, Belgrave Square in Monkstown and Prince of Wales Terrace in Bray.

Alan Moloney was the executive producer for Dublin-based Parallel Films along with IFTA-winner Mary Callery (The Clinic).

‘Thirteen Steps Down’ will air on ITV1 tonight at 8pm.
