'Father Ted' Co-Creator Graham Linehan Signs Comedy Deal With Boom
03 Aug 2012 : By Steve Cummins
Graham Linehan
'Father Ted' co-creator Graham Linehan has sold his Delightful Industries production company to former BBC1 controller Lorraine Heggessey’s UK-based Boom Pictures.

As part of the move, the company will fall under the Boom banner with acclaimed Irish television writer developing and producing new comedy programmes for Boom Pictures.

Linehan, whose credits also include ‘The IT Crowd’ and ‘Black Books’, will work alongside producer and director Richard Boden, who has also joined Boom as director of programmes for Delightful. Boden previously worked alongside Linehan on two series of ‘The IT Crowd’.

Heggessey, executive chair of Boom Pictures, said: “I can't think of a better first signing for Boom Pictures. This is precisely the kind of talent that we're looking to attract and support. Graham is a comedy genius and I love working with him and Richard.”

Linehan, who co-created the 'Father Ted' series in 1995 with Arthur Matthews, added: “I couldn't be more excited about the move and am hoping that it will be a huge success.”

The announcement comes less than a week after the official launch of Cardiff and London-based Boom Pictures, a new independent production group established following the management buy-out of Boomerang Plus.
