The Day Henry Met… Season 4 premieres on Nick Jr and adds several new broadcasters
15 Jan 2020 : Nathan Griffin
The Day Henry Met... debuted in Ireland on January 7th.
The latest season of Wiggleywoo’s hit series; The Day Henry Met… has recently been completed and made its debut on Nick Jr Too in the UK and Ireland on 7th January.

The popular pre-school children’s programme will launch on Nick Jr. in Italy on 20th January prior to being broadcast into 178 countries on Nick Jr.

Discussing the success of the show thus far, Monster Entertainment Chairman Andrew Fitzpatrick told IFTN: “We’re delighted with the sales of Henry to 178 countries, often on multiple platforms, which of course is due to how engaging Henry is.”

So far, several other broadcasters have secured rights to air Season 4 including RTE Jr, TV3 Catalunya in Spain, Kids Central in the US, TVP in Poland, Ceska in the Czech Republic, Eesti in Estonia and Viaplay SVOD in Scandinavia, but distribution plans for the show don’t seem to be stopping there. It’s still early days,” said Fitzpatrick. “Season 4 has just been completed and we expect there will be many more sales to come and further growth in its already robust publishing programme and in licensing and merchandising.”

Earlier seasons have recently been sold to Playkids, OCS, iDipper, TFOUMax, Azoomee and Kanopy, Itunes, Google Play, Hoopla, BusyBee TV Roku, Microsoft XBOX, all for VOD, and TV Azteca in Mexico.  The series airs on a range of Free TV channels including Milkshake! in the UK and Ireland, RAI in Italy, ABC in Australia, TVO, TFO and Knowledge in Canada and on many SVOD platforms.

Two new publishers, de Agostini in Italy and Agyra in Greece have signed up to publish a range of books based upon the series, Di Costa in Italy have created Henry Easter eggs with a gift inside and there will be a Henry promotion through kiosks in Italy organised by Teaser Lab.

LMI has taken on the UK Licensing and Merchandising rights in the UK and 25 airlines are featuring the series in their inflight entertainment.

This success is reflective of the Irish animation industry as a whole, which continues to go from strength to strength internationally. Fitzpatrick believes this is down to the industries shift from service provider to original content creator: The industry here has grown from one, which did service work and content primarily for the Irish market into one which is developing, producing and, critically, owning, IP created for the worldwide market”.

As such, it is understandable that Monster Entertainment has another busy slate for the year ahead, which includes the development of a new CGI Film. “We have recently acquired new programmes Tommie and Robbie, from Brazil, Koyaa and the annoying objects, from Slovenia, Monsterland Wackyland, from Brazil, Wow Wow Rolling Friends from South Korea and the wonderful Urban Tails, from Pink Kong in Dublin.”

“Our big hits are The Day Henry Met….., Jungle Beat, from South Africa, which we have sold into 180 countries, Earth to Luna, from Brazil, which airs worldwide on Netflix and on many other broadcasters and platforms,” continued Fitzpatrick. “Peek Zoo, from Dublin’s Igloo, is starting to sell very well internationally too.  Beyond these, we have a big catalogue of programming for which we’re closing sales all the time.”
