Screen Training Ireland announce Career Traineeship with Cartoon Saloon

Screen Training Ireland, Young Irish Filmmakers and Animation Skillnet, on behalf of Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board (KCETB), are collaborating with international award-winning animation studio Cartoon Saloon to offer a Career Traineeship for the role of Animation Studio Assistant.

The consortium is seeking a Programme Coordinator to manage and administer the delivery of this programme.  This position is an excellent opportunity to become part of a new Career Traineeship designed to deliver critical animation studio assistance skills through classroom and work-based learning in Cartoon Saloon Animation Studio in Kilkenny.  This Level 4 programme will be targeted at those seeking creative employment opportunities in the Kilkenny region.

Personal specification: 

The successful candidate:

  • will have the ability to work and engage with participants in an informal learning environment.
  • must be a strong leader with excellent facilitation, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • must demonstrate the ability to be creative and work on their own initiative to deliver on project deadlines.
  • will be called upon to write and deliver regular work reports and learner evaluations through the QQI/ETB reporting systems.

Skills required: 

Excellent administration skills.  SOLAS/ETB/QQI reporting and support systems.

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.  Coordinators will be required to deliver course modules at QQI Level 4/5.  (see course modules below)
  • Must hold a qualification at Level 6 or above for the required subject and have a relevant education/training qualification.
  • Working Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Mac & PC literate.
  • Knowledge of the animation/audiovisual sector.
  • Experience in the area of training/arts administration/facilitation/youth intervention schemes an advantage.

COURSE DETAILS 

The coordinator will be tasked with delivering some generic modules as provisionally outlined below, as well as working with Subject Matter Experts and Cartoon Saloon team to manage other specialist modules.

 Position Details:

  • 44 week contract.  October 2017 – September 2018.
  • 2 weeks preparation – October 2017, 37 weeks course delivery November 2017 – August 2018; and 2 weeks sign off & administration.
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary – €29,700
  • Position subject to Garda vetting.
