The animated pre-school series narrated by Chris O’Dowd, has received nominations for the 44th Annual Annie Awards in LA.
‘Puffin Rock’ is co-produced by Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon, global publisher Penguin, and Derry-based children’s media company, Dog Ears.
‘Puffin Rock’ episode: 59 ‘The First Snow’ has received three Annie Award nominations in the following categories:
Best Animated Television/Broadcast Production For Preschool Children
Outstanding Achievement, Production Design in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production - Puffin Rock Production Design: Lily Bernard
Outstanding Achievement, Writing in an Animated TV/Broadcast Production - Puffin Rock Writer: Davey Moore
Other nominees throughout the categories include other series such as ‘The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show’, ‘Adventure Time’, ‘The Simpsons’, ‘Peg + Cat’ and ‘Bob's Burgers’.
The series is about a family of lovable puffins living on a wild Irish island. Throughout the episodes pufflings Oona and her baby brother Baba are followed on their adventures as they explore the wild island of Puffin Rock.
Narrator, Chris O’Dowd (‘Bridesmaids’, ‘Moone Boy’ and ‘The IT Crowd’) adds a gentle educational tone while comically mixing amusing observations with interesting facts about the wildlife on the island.
The Annie Awards are the Annual American awards for accomplishments in animation. They have been presented by the LA branch of the International Animated Film Association, ASIFA-Hollywood since 1972.
The Annie Awards, will be held on Saturday 4th February 2017 at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
